Cessation

What is the Map:

Cessation is a Halo Infinite Infection map set within a Blacksite studying a hazardous material.  Infection is a mode where 1 team tries to kill (infect) the other team until all of the other team is on the infected team.

This map combines elements of a blacksite with a bleak destroyed look and feel so players can be immersed within the space while fighting others.

What was your role on the project: 

On this Project, I am the Level designer and Art Director of the map

Design Philosophy and Goals:

The goal for this map was to allow infected players to almost always move at top speed, this, alongside the many long lines of sight, allows for a very varied experience not only for the infected but for the humans and allows for players to hold out in different locations around the map.  I wanted to sell that this is a black site of some sort so I looked into how games such as Call of Duty Black Ops, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare, and Aliens: Colonial Marines pulled off similar themes not only with their art but with their level design as both play hand and hand here.

Line of Sight Control:

In Halo Infinite's Infection Longer lines of sight typically play better as the infected have a smoke screen.  This allows designers to make areas very open in comparison to 4v4 maps if designed for properly and allows for the map to have very varied gameplay as a whole.  Because of this I walked a very fine line with Line of Sight and Player freedom as an infected.
